Woo hoo! I passed my comps! I'm now officially a PhD candidate and am thus ABD. Now begins the ardous task of planning, writing, proposing, preparing, collecting, analyzing, writing, and defending my dissertation. T-minus [however long it takes] until graduation,

Now, to work with me. I leave for the medical mission to Mante, Mexico on Wednesday morning, so I have to pack and clean. My 4th load of laundry for today is going in now...

Woo, Northwest! I hear rain's in the forecast.	[Nov. 17th, 2008\|12:02 am]
T-Minus one week until I get to Oregon. Tentative plans include: Sunday-Tuesday AM, visiting Murray in Walla Walla. Tuesday (noon) - Friday AM, Portland area. Leave Friday afternoon. I'm staying Wednesday & Thursday nights with some family friends... no plans yet for Tuesday night. I should probably figure that out. So, if you want to plan something, you should let me know!

Since it came up in conversation the other night at dinner... Happy Exploding Whale Day! It's been 38 years since this video was shot of a whale being blown up (with dynamite, of course) in Florence, Oregon. And, it's still funny today. (Hat tip, tastygoodness)

All right... it's official. I will be in the Northwest from Sunday November 23rd through Friday November 28th. I'll likely be in Walla Walla from Sunday through Tuesday morning, then in Portland Tuesday through Friday. Woo!

Sure, I'm not technically done until June 13th... but you can call me Doctor now if you want to. Yay for floppy hats! And I didn't get to keep my hood either, Andrea. Just the floppy hat. EDIT: Of course, this doesn't mean that I'm even remotely done with school. I still have a couple more years to finish that darn PhD. :)

Hi, I'm Cory, and I'm getting good at dropping off the face of the planet. Seriously... just vanishing. What have I been up to since my last journal update? Well...

In the end, things are going decently. I really want to get out and a) see people I haven't seen in a while and b) meet new people. I feel a little isolated here in Denver... but I love my apartment, and I know this is the right place to be. Too bad that all the new people I keep meeting live in Boulder!
