| | Cake - Satan Is My Motor | ] | I really ought to be in bed right now... as I have a 9am CPR class to teach in Denver. And as much as I'm tired... I just don't want to get get off my ass and go to bed. So, I'll add a little on to yesterday's post... what's been going on. In no particular order:
Lots of work for school. Specifically, I'm working on a chapter of a book that my Multicultural class is writing. We're writing a book on Mulitcultural Issues in Audiology... and I've got the American Indian section. Which is interesting, since Ive never seen an American Indian in the clinic. It's a purely academic exercise for me... a little weird. I'm probably going to have to take an incomplete in the class to finish this paper... which is okay according to our prof. Why? Because I'm...
Studying for Prelims. That's the preliminary exam for anyone counting. 3 days of writing. 1 question per day. 8 hours to write... use as much time as we want. We got 25 journal articles to read (8-15 pages of dense jargon each, for you non-science people) and the test starts on Monday. Eek. This weekend will be spent studying nonstop, I think.
Also, I've been working on a website for the department (as a part of my grant funding) and trying to design a research project measuring sound levels in high school band classrooms and maybe testing some hearing of band teachers. I think the levels will prove to be dangerous... and I want to find out. Oh, and I'm trying to write up a paper for publication (need to start on that...) full of the data I presented in April at a conference. [which I will also likely be presenting at the end of the month at a conference]. Blah. Too much work. Blah.
What happened to the relaxing summer? I was going to tour, like, 3 breweries and just enjoy the mountain sun. Grr.
In other news, I now have contact lenses. I got them a month ago and have been fighting with them (many different pairs/prescriptions). I'm clowe to something I like. But, if nothing else, it's really nice not to deal with my scratched-up, foggy glasses. I mean, glasses don't bother me, as I've worn them since I was 10... but it is nice to see myself without them. A new experience, really. And I look very different. I'll have to post pictures sometime. |

Don't become one of the non-glasses crowd! We can't lose another!

Dammit, I've paid my dues to the glasses crowd! Isn't 12 years enough for you people? I'm leaving!
Hey bitch, I've had glasses for 18 years, but I'm not going to contacts. So nyah! :)
A) I know for a fact that orchestral environments have high sound levels and that many symphony players have scary levels of deafness (You make music for a living, and you can't hear it?)
B) Contacts are good, but they are a holy pain in the ass to keep together. Maybe it's just me, with my eyes-so-sensitive-they-water-at-the-suggestion-of-dust, but the glasses are still more convienient, at least when my appearance doesn't matter terribly much. Sooner or later though... PRK or LASIK.
dood, sounds like I totally full plate, but productive, so that rocks. Take care of yourself, and best of the luck.
cory, I went to contacts a few years ago - good call on that. Although as soon as I could afford it I got Lasik and that was the best thing ever - you should definitely get it!! and please don't die with all the studying you're doing... good luck!! | |
